Thalipeeth – From the kitchen of Kalpana Sharma

Ingredients

  • 1 cup atta/ wholewheat flour
  • 1/2 cup besan/chickpea flour
  • 1/2 cup jawari atta/white millet
  • 1 cup finely chopped onions
  • 1/2 tblsp chopped coriander leaves
  • 1/2 tsp crushed garlic
  • 3 tsp white til/seasime seeds
  • 1tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp jaldi/ turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp dahi/ yogurt
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • Optional – 1 tbsp grated cabbage
  • 1 tbsp grated carrots
  • Method

  • Mix all the ingredients in a thali Knead with lukewarm water.

  • Set the dough aside for 15 mins.

  • Divide into 8 equal balls.

  • Roll it into thick 4″ diameter round.

  • Make a hole in the centre with your finger.

  • Cook it on medium flame on a heated girdle using little oil

  • Flip on both sides and cook till golden brown.

  • Note:Taste good when eaten with homemade white butter,Green chilli mint chutney
