Onion Pulusu– From the kitchen of Pinky Reddy

Ingredients

  • 300 gms Desi small onions
  • 50 gms Jaggery/ Gud
  • 50 gms Tamrind deseeded /Imli
  • 1/2 tsp Methi seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds / Jeera
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds / Rai
  • 1/2 tsp Red chilli powder
  • 2 sticks Curry leaves
  • 1 tbsp Cooking oil
  • 1 cup Water
  • Method

  • Peel the onions.

  • Heat the oil in a kadai in the tempering add rai , jeera, methi seeds,curry leaves.

  • Add the peeled onions put chilli powder and salt.

  • To this add Gud and imli pieces and a cup of water.

  • Cook for 7 to 8 minutes till onions become tender on medium flame.

  • Note:Tastes good with Dosa,plain rice
