Kaanji Buttermilk with Mini Rava Dhoklaokla – Recipe shared by Shobha Bajoria

Ingredients

  • 5 glasses Buttermilk made out of 1.5 Cup of yoghurt
  • 100 gms white rava dhokla
  • Grated half cup carrot
  • Pinch asofetida or hing
  • 1 green chilli
  • 1 twig of curry leaves
  • 1tsp powdered mustard seeds
  • Half tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp Haldi
  • 1 1/2 tsp oil
  • Method

  • Make thin buttermilk by adding water to yoghurt and strain it.

  • Heat the oil in a pan.

  • Add Hing, curry leaves, green chilly , haldi.

  • Turn off the flame.

  • Add chilli, mustard powder.

  • Pour this into the buttermilk.

  • Add salt and Add grated carrots.

  • Cover it and let it sit for two hours
  • Maturing depending on the sourness of the yoghurt and on the climate
  • Serve chilled
  • Chill for one hour before Serving
  • Before chilling add dhokla cut into about 1/2 inches cubes
  • How to make dhokla

  • 3 to 1 Rice to urad Daal
  • 3 small cups of rice to One small cup of urad daal
  • Dry grind the above
  • Overnight soak it in one cup of yoghurt diluted a little with water
  • Next morning add 1tsp oil, 1 tsp Salt, half tsp Cooking soda Mix it well.
  • Keep it aside at room temperature for half-hour.
  • Pour Your mixture in high rimmed thaali Grease one high rimmed thali with oil Steam for 20min
  • This quantity of dhokla is more than 100gms
