Gujrati Methi Thepla
Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup millet flour
  • ½ cup yogurt
  • ½ tsp cumin seeds ponded coarsely
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp chilly powder
  • ½ tsp asafoetida / hing
  • ½ cup finely chopped fresh fenugreek leaves / methi
  • ¼ cup finely chopped coriander leaves
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for cooking
  • Method

  • Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and knead into a semi-soft dough.

  • Knead the dough well using a little oil. Cover and keep aside for 10 minutes.

  • Divide the dough into 14 equal portions and roll out each portion into a 125 mm. (5″) diameter circle using whole wheat flour for rolling.

  • Heat a griddle/ tavaand cook each circle, using a little oil, till it turns golden brown in colour from both sides.

  • Serve hot with chunda or sweet mango pickle.
