Gawar phalli/ Patoli… from kitchen of Lakshmi Rao

To serve 4 Persons

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Channa Daal
  • 3/4 Moong Daal
  • 2 dried red Chillies
  • 100 gms Gawar phalli
  • 1 inch piece of Ginger
  • 1/2 tsp cummin seeds
  • 1tsp grated Coconut
  • 1 twig Curry leaves
  • 2 green Chillies
  • 1 tbsp oil for seasoning
  • Method

  • Wash well and soak Moong and Chana Daal separately also soak dried red chillies for 3 hours

  • Grind all three together in mixie,add salt

  • Pour batter in idli mould and steam cook like idli for 20 minutes .

  • Heat oil , add cummin seeds , curry leaves, and finely chopped ginger and green chilies .
  • To this add gawar phalli cut into 1 inch pieces, add salt, cover pan with lid and cook for 7 mins
  • To this add Daal idlis and mix well, so that they crumble.
  • While serving sprinkle 1tsp of grated coconut
  • To be eaten with hot rice
