Coconut Chutney – Recipe shared by Kala Karthikeyan
Serves 6 people
Ingredients
1 cup grated fresh coconut
100 grams Roasted, puffed Bengal gram dal/phuta chana dal
6 green chillies
1 tsp curd
Salt to taste
Seasoning:
2 tsp oil
½ tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp black gram dal/urad dal
1 sprig curry leaves
Method
Grind together grated coconut, green chillies, phuta chana dal with 1/4th cup of water coarsely.
Add salt to taste.
Add 1 tsp of curd and salt, mix well.
Heat oil in the vessel. Roast urad dal then splutter mustard seeds over medium heat. Add curry leaves, and remove them immediately when the urad dal becomes brown. Pour contents of the seasoning over coconut chutney.
