  • Pind Daan is performed for seven “Kuls” – Families-

1.Father’s Family – Pitaji Kul
2.Mother’s Family – Nana Kul
3.Wife’s Family – Bharya Kul
4.Sister’s Family – Bhagini Kul
5.Daughter’s Son’s Family – Dohita Kul
6.Father’s Sister Family – Pitra Bhagini – Bua
7.Mother’s Sister Family – Matra Bhagini – Mausi

  • The Seven gotra have same blood line all so Sutak is applicable to .

  • If we pray in Seven Tirth places Moksha is Attained- Ayodhya, Mathura, Kashi, Kanchi, Avantika, Puri, Dwaravati.

  • The difference between a son and a “Putra” is that “Putra”along with being respectful “Agyawan”, performs shradh and Feeds the Brahmins and above all . Performs the Pind Daan in Gaya Ji.

  • What is Pind – It is a Sankalp of Manush ya Swaroop Panchtatva i.e.,Water,Earth,Sky,Air,Fire.

  • Pind is important like the womb of the Mother for the child.

  • Pind is made of -Jaun Ka Atta, Milk, Til, Ghee, Honey, Jaggery and Banana.

  • Importance of Pind Daan

2.your child should be generous and does Charity
3.The house hold should believe in charity
4.Your son should be intelligent and respectfull
5.The house hold should have enough wealth todo charity
6.Guests should visit your house
7.I Should have strength to do charity and should not ask for loans.

Preparations to be done by the son before he leaves for Pind Daan

  • The son takes 5 Fist Full of rice(remembering his Forefathers) and keeps it in a white handkerchief along with a beetle nut and makes a bundle of it. He has to carry this in his hand when he travels. one should also carry a coconut but coconut is not allowed in the flight as hand baggage so one has to check it in. When you leave the house you should remember your “Pitars” Ancestors.

  • Some people carry a bag of Palash leaves also as they are not available in Gaya Ji. Alternatively the Pandit used Shaal Leaves which are found in Gaya Ji.

  • Please take the list of your relatives of 7 Kulas/Families with their Gotra’s Very Important.

  • Take in 12 places five clothes for Brahmins– Kurta material, Dhoti, Towel, Handkerchief, Socks or Vests.

  • 12 Sarees and Blouse Pieces for Brahminies .

  • 1 set of clothes which your Father wore example Safari Suit.

  • 1 Set of Saree and blouse your Mother Liked to Wear.

  • Cash for your Panda, Daan, Pujari, Helper, Brahmin Bhojan, 100Rs, 10Rs, lots of one Rupee Coins, Dakshina for Brahmins.

  • Hand Towels, Wet Wipes.

Importance of Puja Samagri

Jaun Ka Atta(Barley Oats)
– It is consider the most important cereal.
– It is easily available
– It is grows easily
– It is very healthy
– It does not require any manure to grow
– It grows in 9 days.
Kusha
In this plant 3 Gods reside
– In the roots(Jada) Brahma Ji resides
– In the Center (Madhya) Vishnu Ji resides
– In the top(Agra) Shiva Ji resides

At the time of Eclipse if we keep Kusha in the food items at Puja room Kusha keeps them pure.

Til(Sesame Seeds)
– It is believed that Til comes from the body perspiration of Lord Narayan.
– Til is of 3 types Black, White and Brown.
– When we do any offerings to our ancestors the Pishacha(Devill) try to grab it…”Til” acts as a shield and makes sure that the offering reach our ancestors.
Yellow Sarson(Mustard Seeds)
-They bind the Directions (East, West, North, South) Dikbandhan. They are used for removal of Evil eye.
Rice, Akshat
-Riceis called Akshat one that does not get destroyed. It helps in well being and Prosperity of the householders.
Gulal, Sandlewood
-Used for decoration — Shirngar.

Vidhi — Method in brief

  • On the right hand side on a red cloth 2 Gurus Pitra Paksh are installed (Sthapana) Puruva and Aadra and further 2 Gurus from Mother side are installed.

  • In front on a white clothe 12 installations are done of Father, Mother, Grand Father Dada, Dadi, Pardada, Pardadi (great grand Parents), Nana, Nani, Par Nan, Par Nani, Vidhavat Nana and Nani.

Tarpan ka Kram – Order

  • Pita,Dada, ParDada, Mother, Dadi, ParDadi, Nana, ParNana, Vidhatnana, Nani, ParNani, VidhatNani, Chacha, Tau, Chachi, Tai, Wife’s Father and Mother, Bua, Phupha,Mama, Mami, Mausa, Mausi , any one’s name we have forgotten , anyone who has had an accidental death, any one in animal and bird Yoni, bitten by snake and your serving stuff.

Note:

  • People who do not have sons after their death Pind Daan cannot be done by Kusha. In a white handkerchief some Till is put and then Sankalp is done.

  • After Pind Daan Brahmin Bojan is done – Followed by Dakshin

  • Some people do Shayya Daan, Gold Dann, Goo Dann etc in Shastras. 16 types of Daan are mentioned.

  • The son who performed the Pind Daan takes one thing back with him – Bhakti

-He leaves one fruit for life.
-He also leaves behind one set of his clothes.
